Bechtel is a global provider of engineering, construction, and project management services with a reputation for excellence and innovative project delivery. An immediate opportunity exists, within our Mining and Metals business unit to be part of the ALBA Potline 6 Project in Manama, Bahrain.
The Board of Directors of Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C (ALBA) has directed the ALBA Management Team to implement the construction of Potline 6 (the “Project”) and all other necessary facilities to produce an additional 540,000 tonnes per year (tpy) (nominal) of production capacity. The Project will include key facilities such as: Green Anode Production, Anode Bake, Anode Rodding, Reduction & Reduction Services, Casthouse and all associated infrastructure and sub facilities.
The Project Leadership Team will be based in Manama, Bahrain, supported by the New Delhi Execution Unit.
Salary will be based on current market rates and the posted grade will not be adjusted to suit the successful candidate.

As part of the site construction team, the Superintendent Casthouse and Ancillary Plant is responsible for supervising and directing TAC and Hommogenised construction activities within the Casthouse area of the smelter construction site. Reporting to the Area Manager, the Superintendent Casthouse and Ancillary Plant is responsible for ensuring scope of the associated contract packages is completed on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with the project safety standards, the project quality standards and the design/specifications.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Monitors the activities and work sequences of subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.
Attends subcontractor safety and toolbox meetings.
Adheres to and functions under the Bechtel Safety Plan and Core Processes
Adheres to and functions under the Bechtel Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPP).
Attends construction meetings with subcontractors, as necessary, to represent construction supervision.
Liaises with other construction team members and subcontractors to ensure interference between adjacent works is avoided.
Reviews progress reports submitted by subcontractors.
Liaises with survey contractor to ensure necessary 3rd party verification survey is performed correctly.
Communicates with field engineering to ensure latest design documentation is available to subcontractors, including other outstanding technical information.
Coordinates with subcontractors to ensure nonconforming work is rectified as necessary.
Coordinates with subcontractors to ensure changes to design documentation identified through field change documents are implemented as necessary.
Coordinates with subcontractors to ensure all necessary work permits have been applied for and granted prior to commencing work.
Leads weekly progress meetings with contractors
Coordinates with subcontractors to ensure works are prioritized to close-out punch list items as necessary.
Coordinates with subcontractors to ensure relevant inspections, testing and quality documentation are completed for system handover
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Maintains a continual review of progress and providing management with information regarding projected financial or technical difficulties.
Prepares periodic status reports for management.
Coordinates with designated staff on operational activities affecting contractual rights and obligations, (sub)contract performance, (sub)contract administration and other major matters.
Pro active in the support and administration of complex contract changes by negotiating with customer personnel and obtaining settlement. Represents Bechtel in contractual discussions of moderate complexity and in (sub)contract negotiations. Administers information programs to ensure mutual understanding of (sub)contract terms and conditions.
May provide operational supervision to Sub-Contract Specialist(s) and/or other (Sub)contract Administrators
Develops, maintains, and verifies implementation of the project quality assurance program/plan for any specific portions of a large project.
Manages and coordinates the project quality assurance program/plan activities associated with one or more functions in engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, testing, operations and commissioning of a project. Maintains client liaison and communication for project quality assurance activities. Advises management of project quality assurance problems and progress.
Ensures that Inspection and Test Plans are adhered to by the Contractor.
