Inspects and monitors all rigging on site. Responsible for implementation of Bechtel Standard Work Process Procedures. Ensure crane operators and signalpersons are qualified to perform duties on the project site as per Bechtel procedures. Coordinates equipment movements and lifts on site between all areas and contractors as directed.
Responsible for supervising and directing equipment operations within the contract scope, including: assessing and certifying claims for payment, extensions of time and variations to the contract, confirming contractor’s compliance with the requirements of the contract and for answering queries related to construction. Ensures assigned construction operations and contractors performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.
Provide technical input into the development of transport and lift strategies.
Support the development of Crane and Heavylift Strategy and detailing of Major Crane work position(s), lift apparatus and uprighting frame design.
Prepare, review and approve Critical Risk lift and site transport plans submitted by subcontractors.
Work closely with Field Engineering and Construction team in the prepare, review and approval of Critical Risk lifts and monitoring compliance of Standard Work Process and Procedure pertaining to Rigging & Crane use and operation.
Candidate with intermediate Autocad proficiency is preferred.
Monitor compliance of rigging operations with approved rigging plans and applicable codes.
Assist in development of rigging training materials and conduct of rigging training courses for site personnel.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Completes equipment and rigging inspections and approves for mobilization to site and use.
Completes scheduled and random inspections on site of all contractor equipment and rigging gear to ensure project standards are maintained
Monitors the activities of proposed subcontractors or vendors to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.
Provides training to ensure adherence and understanding of safe equipment usage requirements and practices.
Has understanding of equipment warranties, performance guarantees, and equipment fitness for use.
Knowledge of multi-discipline construction and or operating functions.
Knowledge of heavy-industrial equipment management work processes and procedures.
Provide leadership for safety, accident and fire prevention on the project. This includes safety orientation, preparation of safety procedures and leading Bechtel and subcontractor safety meetings.
Inspect site for unsafe conditions and practices and take appropriate corrective action to correct breaches.
Assure all rigging is done in a safe manner.
Champion the cause of ZERO Accident Philosophy.
Ensure that Bechtel and local/national safety codes, requirements and standards are being complied with within assigned area of responsibility.
Monitor the activities of subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.
Responsible for implementing corporate project policies, procedures and instructions.
Coordinate established area operational lift plans.
Perform other duties as required by Bechtel management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Knowledge of Heavy Haul / Heavy Lift activities and Construction work process sequencing.
Knowledge of Bechtel’s “Zero Accidents” safety program.
Extensive working knowledge of Bechtel’s rigging planning and execution standards and requirements
A minimum of 5 years experience in developing Critical Risk Haul/Lift rigging plans and 2 years field experience direction and supervising rigging operations on construction projects if qualified with a BS in a related engineering discipline associated with rigging operations. Intermediate skills in Autocad.
Familiar with applicable legislations, rigging codes, Bechtel SWPP’s, Safety Core Processes governing rigging operations, and safe use of lift appliances.
Demonstrated skill in identifying, analyzing, and solving problems.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other relevant technical discipline from an accredited university as well as a minimum of nine years relevant work experience, or 15 years relevant experience in the absence of a degree.
Knowledge of EPCM contract Management, and the Contractor(s) and their subcontractor’s responsibilities.
Knowledge of construction technologies.
Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to field activities.
Familiarity with current industry quality standards.
Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H). Demonstrable commitment to a Zero Accident safety program.
Certified as a Bechtel Certified Rigging Engineer.
BS in mechanical, civil, or structural engineering or related discipline.
A knowledge of Bechtel rigging training programs and ability in their presentation.
Aluminium Smelter and Middle East experience preferred
